The Fat Lady Singhs
It looks like the India-US nuclear deal might not make it out of Congress. The Indian Congress, that is. With his government coalition jeopardized by staunch opposition to the deal on the left, Indian PM Manmohan Singh has backed off of threats to open negotiations with IAEA over the deal's provisions until at least the end of October, when a legislative freeze on ratifying it ends. There's also speculation that Singh is ready to scrap the deal entirely. By all reports, this deal was pretty lopsided in India's favor, and undermined America's non-proliferation stance to boot. So I guess there are some upsides to anti-American sentiment abroad after all.
